We can’t take our kids to work with us.
Too many parents in Canada can’t find child care for their kids – relying instead on family, friends and a patchwork of inadequate solutions.
For those who can find child care space, the cost can be exorbitant. On average, families spend nearly a quarter of their take-home pay on licensed child care.
This is unacceptable. All families in Canada should be able to find affordable, high quality child care.
It’s time for Prime Minister Trudeau to do what’s needed.
We call for:
- The federal government to implement a high-quality, universal non-profit child care system that families across Canada can afford; and
- All levels of government to make major investments in child care—starting in 2019 and increasing each year until Canada meets the accepted international child care spending benchmark of 1 percent of GDP.
This petition will be delivered directly to the Office of the Prime Minister leading up to the 2019 federal election.
